Well, let’s Skype the smartest friend I have, Albert Einstein, to get his advice about the class.
Me: Hey Albert, how are you?
AE: Great, thank you for asking.
Me: Do you have any advice for my new OChem class?
AE: Sure, I have a couple pieces of advice. First, when learning the material, “everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler”. Dr. Iverson will let you know the simplest way to think about each new topic, but don’t look for shortcuts that aren’t there because afterall, Organic Chemistry is a complex subject. (slight pause)
Second, you need to learn and understand, not memorize Organic Chemistry. When it comes to this class, “the only real valuable thing is intuition”. You can only get Organic Chemistry intuition by understanding the material, not just trying to memorize it.
